We are proud to be founding members of the Rat Pack. If you are wondering what the Rat Pack is and how to become a member, it is really quite simple. You have to drive your hotrod, on one trip, 2000 or more miles. Several of us made a trip from Tennessee to Las Vegas in 2009 heading to SEMA and OUSCI. It was so much fun, we figured out that the trip itself was half the fun. Then we wanted other people to get their cars out of the trailers and on the highway and that is how the Rat Pack came to be. One simple way to earn your stripes is do the Hot Rod Power Tour, easy to get your miles if you are a long hauler. Usually at least once a year a group will be driving a long haul to one of the events too, so as events come up, stay tuned, check out the message board and be ready for the trip on a lifetime.
One thing that we decided as a group once the Rat Pack was formed was to be more than just a pretty name. We looked for a charity to hook up with and do good. Unfortunately we found that charity after loosing a very close friend and supporter this year. We lost one of the founders and owners of Baer Brakes, Todd Gartshore. Todd’s family asked that donations be made to Victory Junction Gang in Todd’s memory. In 2011, we raised over $12000 in Todd’s memory at events. To top that in 2012, several of the founding members of the Rat Pack have committed to build, race, and ultimately auction off a charity build car. The plan is to build the car, campaign it in the 2012 season, then auction it off at Barrett Jackson Scottsdale in 2013. All money raised will go to the Victory Junction Gang. Stay tuned for updates and stories on this new project.
